What a difference...
This house was definitely built to last with some beautiful hardwood timbers, but was in dire need of TLC. When the underlying timbers are sound, it's amazing what a spot of good work will produce!
This partially shows the effect we were after in that the sunlight reflects upwards off the highgloss rail onto the semi gloss on the soffits giving a warm glow. The matt finish on the roof means this large area remains easy on the eyes on a bright sunny day.
