Taylor Ave, Paeroa

This amazing double bay villa was built to a high standard in 1930 and has been continuously occupied by generations of the same family ever since. It is almost entirely original with almost no alterations being carried out for almost a century.

It presented something of a challenge as it is very complicated from a painter's point of view incorporating numerous difficult to access corners and bays and a variety of surfaces from shingles to ‘pergola’ style beams to leadlight windows. Very fiddly work which requires a fair bit of patience.

As you can see there were some areas where the paint had almost peeled completely. Please don’t leave it too late – it will cost far more to restore in the long run if you put it off until it gets to this kind of stage.

Our client had to be patient too as we had only been working on the property for a couple of weeks when the whole country went into lockdown. Like almost everyone else in the industry, we had no choice but to put the whole operation on hold for weeks on end.

However, we eventually picked up where we had left off and completed the contract almost six weeks later than originally planned. At least we had a reasonable excuse for the over-run!
